چکیده

A dextran/fructose mixture was obtained by fermentation of a sucrose rich media using Leuconostoc mesenteroides NRRL B512(f). The dextran and fructose mixture obtained by fermentation as well as a synthetic mixture of pure components were separated using simulated moving bed (SMB) chromatography. In the case of the synthetic feed, the purity in the raffinate (dextran) and extract (fructose) was 96 and 81%, respectively. For the fermented mixture the purity values were 87.2% for the extract and 100% for the raffinate. © 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

Model-based Control of a Simulated Moving Bed Chromatographic Process for the Separation of Fructose and Glucose

Chromatographic separations are an emerging technology for the separation of high value products, particularly in the area of pharmaceutics, food, and ne chemicals. The simulated moving bed (SMB) process as a continuous chromatographic separation process is an interesting alternative to conventional batch chromatography, and gained more and more impact recently. The SMB process is realized by c...

Simulation Assessment of Continuous Simulating Moving Bed Chromatography Process with Partial Feed and New Strategy with Partial Feed

Partial Feed simulating moving bed (SMB) has proved to be more efficient in binary separation performance (purity, recovery, productivity) because of its two additional degrees of freedom, namely feed length and feed time, as compared to classical SMB process. The binary separation of dextran T6 and fructose with linear isotherm is modeled with Aspen Chromatography simulator in a four zone SMB ...

Chromatographic parameter estimation for the model-based design of a sugar separating simulated moving bed process

Rare sugars are becoming increasingly interesting for many industrial applications, due to properties such as low energy content and potential pharmaceutical uses. D-psicose is one of the rare sugars with a future use as a sweetener and precursor for pharmaceuticals. It can be enzymatically produced from a cheap substrate, Dfructose. Because of the position of the thermodynamic equilibrium the ...

Optimization of HFDS Production from Date Syrup (RESEARCH NOTE)

Fructose is utilized as a common sweetener in many food industries. Today, a large amount of HFCS (high fructose corn syrup, an equilibrium mixture of glucose and fructose) is produced by glucose isomerase, immobilized enzymes from corn starch. There are a lot of date palms in Iran. Date is a favorable source of carbohydrates, and a suitable source for HFDS (high fructose date syrup) production...
